Entebbe Botanical Gardens

Entebbe Botanical Gardens are located in Entebbe, Uganda on the northern shores of Lake Victoria virtually on the equator. They were laid out in 1898 by the first curator and serves as a sanctuary for both indigenous and exotic plant species, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and researchers alike. Entebbe botanical gardens are conveniently located in Entebbe town and lies on the northern shores of Lake Victoria just 5mins close to the Entebbe international airport and 35minutes close to Uganda’s capital Kampala. The expansive botanical gardens cover an area of approximately 40hectars which offers ample space for leisurely stroll, relaxation and exploration. Climate of Entebbe Botanical Gardens 

The gardens experience an annual rainfall of 1623mm at an altitude of 1134 meters and are divided into different zones including the rainforest zone which acted as a backdrop to some of the scenes from Tarzan films.

Entebbe botanical gardens have been under the management of the national forest authority of Uganda with the focus on conservation and preservation of the natural heritage of the gardens but in January 2024, the gardens where handed over to the ministry of tourism, wildlife and antiquities following a directive by H.E yoweri Museveni to upgrade the gardens in to a modern facility for promoting tourism, conservation, education and research.
