Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park & Canopy Walk
Morning:
Your 2 days Nyungwe Forest tour starts after an early breakfast in Kigali, you will be picked up by your driver-guide for a scenic 5–6-hour drive to Nyungwe National Park. Along the way, enjoy the stunning countryside views of Rwanda’s famous “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Optional stops can be made at the King’s Palace Museumin Nyanza or at Butare National Museum (if time permits) to learn about Rwanda’s rich history and culture.
Afternoon:
Arrive at Nyungwe National Park in time for lunch at your lodge or a nearby restaurant. Afterward, head for the Nyungwe Canopy Walk, one of the most thrilling activities in Rwanda. The 160-meter-long suspension bridge, suspended 70 meters above the forest floor, offers panoramic views of the lush canopy and an excellent vantage point for spotting birds and monkeys. The walk typically takes 2–3 hours, depending on your pace.
Evening:
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight, enjoying the cool and peaceful atmosphere of the forest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Return to Kigali
Early Morning:
After a very early breakfast (or packed breakfast), set off for the chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest. Chimpanzee trekking usually starts around 5:00–6:00 AM because the primates are most active in the morning. Led by experienced park rangers, you will follow the chimps as they move through the forest, observing their playful interactions, feeding habits, and social behaviors. The trek can last 2–5 hours depending on the location of the chimps.
Late Morning:
After an incredible hour spent with the chimpanzees, return to the starting point where your driver-guide will be waiting. Begin the journey back to Kigali, with en-route lunch and scenic photography stops along the way.
Evening:
Arrive in Kigali in the evening and be dropped off at your preferred location, marking the end of your 2 days Nyungwe Forest tour
