Detailed Itinerary
Early Morning Departure – Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali around 5:00 am. You’ll drive through Rwanda’s beautiful highlands, often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Enjoy breakfast on the way or request a packed meal from your hotel.
Morning – Arrival and Gorilla Trekking Briefing
Upon reaching the Kinigi Park Headquarters, you’ll check in, present your gorilla permit, and join other trekkers for a safety and etiquette briefing led by park wardens. The briefing covers important guidelines for protecting both the gorillas and the visitors.
Mid-Morning to Afternoon – Gorilla Trekking Experience
Your adventure begins as you enter the forest in search of your allocated gorilla family. The trek can range from an easy walk to a more demanding hike, depending on where the gorillas are located. Along the way, enjoy sightings of birds, butterflies, and other forest wildlife.
Once you find the gorillas, you’ll spend one magical hour observing them — from playful juveniles to powerful silverbacks. This intimate experience offers incredible photo opportunities and deep emotional connection with these remarkable creatures.
