As with most day tours, this 1-day Akagera National Park Safari begins very early. Your Rwanda tour guide will pick you up at around 5:00 am for the drive to the park, ensuring you arrive in time to make the most of the wildlife viewing opportunities.

The drive to Akagera National Park takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Kigali. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a 4-hour game drive through the scenic savannah plains, with chances to spot the Big Five—buffaloes, rhinos, elephants, lions, and leopards—as well as giraffes, zebras, hyenas, topis, impalas, roan antelopes, bushbucks, elands, and more.

After the morning game drive, enjoy lunch at Akagera Game Lodge or a packed picnic. You’ll then take a short afternoon game drive before returning to Kigali. Arriving in the evening marks the end of your 1-day Akagera National Park Safari.
